Why was the DCI so set on closing the case without exploring other possibilities?
I think a "mass-murder for profit" would have got him better press than a "mass-murder suicide".

Just got done watching this series and I had the same question. Why were the guys in charge so hell bent on closing the case so quick without any sort of investigation?

Think he was just after closing the case as quickly as he could given the media circus it was quickly becoming.
