I think you have to be in the right mood and it is a slow moving drama, but I really liked it. I thought Sandler gave a great dramatic performance too. Would love to see him in more dramas. I wish there was a bit more going on in this film because it is a bit too long and excessively artistic, but worth a watch.

The big question that remains, was the spider real? I tend to think no, just because it is a spider. How small is the universe if we encounter an alien and it turns out to be a giant spider, that's kind of disappointing.

If I had been the cosmonaut imagining an alien, it would have looked like Sophia Loren circa 1965. And what are the chances of any species evolving in another galaxy with a human-like brain in a spider body? All that being said, you and I seem to be among the minority who enjoyed this excellent movie.
