When the lead female character lost the ring and reached down the plug hole to fetch it - what the heck did she pull out?!

Entrails? An organ?

Was it supposed to be some supernatural psychological scare for her because it was some kind of representation of her stomach (referencing her eating struggles)?

And it had an eye?!
