No lesson to be learned at the end (spoilers)

Emerald gets the snapshot and will probably be rich from it. The movie proves to just leave what is considered a spectacle alone but they don't. Maybe the alien eating people was all just rage for all of the years people have been trying to take photos of it. That the lesson is not to look and it will go away. But they discovered that and they were still trying to antagonize the alien. So should the alien have deserved to die just like Gordy the chimp? It reminds me of Blackfish in the horrors that can happen of keeping something in captivity.
