Anyone wonder why American Sniper did so much better than this movie....

Both are true stories about American soldiers, both are based on books based on the soldiers accounts, yet American Sniper did a lot better in theaters than this movie, anyone wonder why?

Better actors, better script writing, better production values. These might have had something to do with it.

Talking about Lone right?

Eastwood makes the kind of movies which are broadly popular. But Lone Survivor had better acting and was better directed.

I do think, though, that Lone Survivor sort of set the table for American Sniper.

Lone sniper definitely did not have better acting and was not directed better. Come on man, its a Mark Wahlberg movie. The guy takes no chances and sticks to the middle of the road. All his movies fit somewhere between good and bad and just above B status. Utterly forgettable in other words. Lone survivor does not compare beyond being in the same genre.

I agree about Wahlberg and it's unfortunate that Berg seems to have tied his ship to him. But Kitsch, Foster, Hirsch, all the others were great. The battle scenes were epic. And Berg really spent the time to get the details right, the little minute details of their lives. Great film.

No idea. I thought the acting in this was far better, especially Ben Foster who was fantastic. Loved the rules of engagement scene.

I was impressed with Lone Survivor the action under duress was believable. This is probably Mark Wahlberg's best movie.
