It is supposed to get a wide release on 3 December 2021, but some multiplex theaters are not showing it at all.
The eight critics who have reviewed this film so far have liked it, some giving it 3 out of 5 stars or B-. George MacKay (1917) plays a young man suffering from "species dysphoria". He believes he is a wolf trapped in a human’s body (and is nude in a scene). His distraught parents bring him for an extended stay at a treatment center promising a cure. There are people at the clinic who think they are other animals. This is pure drama, not played for comedy. All of the reviews typically give away too much of the story.
While reviewers make comparisons to issues experienced by trans people or those who have undergone gay conversion therapy, they do not think this film was made to do that. "Wolf’s peculiar premise is entirely its own thing, with subject matter and a story that has yet to be properly probed in cinema." The director has made documentaries and was simply interested in exploring this unusual subject. All of the reviewers praised George MacKay's performance.
The early IMDB user reviews are very low 1 to 3, plus all 10s, (which are probably relatives or friends or people involved in the film being made.) So it may not appeal to a wide audience.
