South Korea Ups the Zombie Genre with #Alive and Train to Busan

Enjoyed both films much more than most zombie films and shows of the last few years.

#Alive does an excellent job of showing the stress of isolation (definitely a theme in 2020) and how personal connections help give people a reason to live. Both Joon-woo and Yoo-bin lost their families but they found each other. And it was that partnership that gave them the strength to keep going. A good message in this day and age.

Food in Films: What's that saying--hunger is the best sauce? When Joon-woo got his hands on that old peanut butter it must've tasted like the world's greatest feast.

1. Night of the Living Dead (1968)
2. 28 Days Later (2002)
3. Dawn of the Dead (2004)
4. World War Z (2013)
5. Train to Busan (2016)

I would replace World War Z with Dance of the Dead or maybe JeruZalem.

I LOVE Dance of the Dead. I watched JeruZalem again (on Shudder) after I typed this yesterday. I still like it (filmed in Israel which is pretty cool) but Dance is my favorite of the two. Enjoy! You might want to check out the Japanese film Happiness of the Katakuris - it's a zombie musical. In fact, that one is also in my top tier. :)
