Ok lazy ass, here's the short version:

Legendary Rock Band with about 50+ different members over the years.

They're largely credited with inventing the progressive rock genre on their 1969 debut "In the Court of the Crimson King"(& being a huge influence on all the prog-rock bands that followed like Yes, Genesis, etc), but has spanned multiple genres ranging from free jazz to Metal to Noise to World Music over the last 50+ years.

The only constant member through all lineups is guitarist Robert Fripp, who, until very recently, rarely gave interveiws & has a reputation for being a bit of a curmudgeon, and is VERY controlling of every aspect of the band. In the last couple of years, however, he's become very active on social media & has made KC music widely available on the bands YouTube channel.

Their best known song is probably 21st Century Schitzoid Man.

Happy Now....?

As long as you're happy Kowalski, that's all that matters. šŸ˜€

Surprised an obscure doc has 256k views in 3 days. Will have to wait for SXSW to find out what it`s really about.

"Reviews" ? I take it you meant "Views"

EDIT: I see you corrected it.šŸ˜Ž

453k now

And I wouldn't exactly call it obscure. There's a lot of anticipation & buzz for it given the subject matter & Fripp's reputation for keeping an air tight lid on things regarding the band. (Until now, at least)

reply

It's amazing after all these years and Robert Fripp's tight-ass policy of not allowing KC's music on so many platforms that there's not only a documentary but their music is available on Youtube to listen to. Anyways, glad they're more accessible to the younger masses who so far only know them from some stupid MANGA character

reply

Rumour has it that they may be calling it a day. Probably why Fripp has loosened his grip on things & is having this doc made.

I'm wondering why the profile pic is for another movie from the same film maker?

Have to admit, I really need to explore their 80's & onward stuff a bit more as I'm more into the classic era stuff from Court of..... to Red. I remember being taken aback when they rebooted in the 80's with a new direction that I didn't find as compelling as the other stuff & thought was maybe a little too commercial (in a way).

reply

I've just spent the last week or so revisiting the 80's albums (Beat, 3 of a Perfect Pair, & Discipline) on their YT channel, & I gotta admit I think I like them more than when I first heard them some 40 years ago. While they are a bit more "commercial" sounding than the 70's material, there's some very intriguing music that stands up with their classic era from Larks Toungue & Red (still my favorite KC album, though I gotta say Thrak comes pretty close)

Guess I've grown up enough to appreciate the "newer" stuff.......at nearly 60yo, LOL!
