Of course it would have been more probable to succeed.
But nobody wants to die, and the explosive was supposedly enough to kill everyone in the room.
Lots of things went wrong. Same could have happened with a kamikaze.

They should have planned better.
That makes absolutely no sense. At the time Stauffenberg planted the bomb - he had no idea Operation Valkyrie was going to fail. Why would he want to die?
