I was pleasantly suprised at how good ZE is in this movie. He's a very good actor, and he's obviously been on the basketball court more than a few times. I have a whole new respect for this guy.

agreed. i thought he was just another pretty boy, and was god awful in High school musical (which, I personally think ruined disney as well as hannah montana, etc.) and when i saw this, i was very surprised at how well he did. he was actually convincing, a decent actor, funny and more than just the pretty boy tween girls are insane over.

Who knew?
Anyone who took the trouble to find out. Efron was a working actor before High School Musical, not a product of the Disney teen-idol factory. He was nominated for an Young Artist Award for his performance as an autistic teen two years before HSM. (And what was wrong with his acting in HSM? He played it exactly as that kind of movie required.)
