No Widescreen?
So, standard 1.85:1 aspect ratio. No 2.35:1 or other widescreen aspect ratio?
shareAccording to IMDB that's the movie's theatrical aspect ratio... Was never wide screen...
I don't know if Snyder had intended it to be a 2.35:1 ratio movie or not.
Seems odd. But, I would think that the decision was made with Snyder. Once you go with 1.85:1, the rest of the movie will need to follow.
shareIt was shot on Super 35 film, which is often used for wide screen (2.35 ratio) movies and Snyder had used that film format on 300 and on Watchmen.
They also used some digital cameras with different ratios (Alexa 65mm).
We won't know for sure unless we hear from the people involved in the filmmaking. I haven't seen the film so I can't tell even subjectively.
I don't think Snyder has done a feature film that wasn't 2.35 or 2.39 ratio... Even his first movie Dawn of the Dead was shot in that format.
It would be interesting to know why the decision was made.
