Jaden Smith ruined this movie...

When this movie first came out this board was FILLED with complaints about how obnoxious Jaden Smith's character was. Yet, strangely, all of those threads have disappeared. I wonder if someone pressured IMBD to delete anything that was critical of spoiled lil' Smith... hmmm

He is the reason why the Earth should be destroyed not saved.

reply

It wasn't him. It was that awful script that shaped his character the way it did.

reply

He was very terrible, but the film was flawed to begin with; he was just one of the bigger flaws.

I have to agree, he annoyed the hell out of me and she needed to spank his ass... However, if you think about it, its possible that the character was suppose to be abrasive and annoying so you would dislike him. He kinda symbolized humanity because he was short sighted, combative, arrogant, and not willing to alter his mindset no matter what happened. In the end he changed and his ability to learn and grow may have changed Klatu's mind because he saw the interaction between him and his mum. But I still cant stand that kid as an actor... Just saying.

Watching right now and I want to strangle the little SOB. And like all of us here his character is completely useless and actually a huge distraction from the film because every time the little *beep* opens his mouth you focus on him instead of the plot.
Jayden Smith is a terrible actor and he (and his father) should be told this. He was terrible in this, "After Earth", "The Karate Kid", and only marginally useful in "The Pursuit of Happiness". And now he's slated to be in "The Karate Kid 2"!!! For the love of God, somebody go and tell his Dad, Will Smith, that his son has NO ACTING TALENT!! He has to stop indulging his son and using his power to get the *beep* roles.
What is sad is that Jaden probably thinks he's Gods give to acting. His parents overindulge him.

reply

Yah, totally. This kid was annoying and obviously was no need to be given such a movie length.
