Did any muslims watch this?

I'm wondering what they're reaction was to this movie. I thought it was pretty offensive to Muslims.

I'm not Muslim btw, my family is Christian and I guess I am to. I'm more agnostic since I could go either way and don't know.

Ok, I think people are mixing up 2 things big time. First of all, the movie is not centered on religion so you don't see any specific Jewish/Muslim jokes.

The movie is centered on 2 communities and their culture, Arab and Israeli. The majority of the humour is focused on that and a lot of sex.

Sure, Palestinians would probably find the movie not to their taste but they will realize that the movie does lampoon the Israeli army as well. I know many Muslims who found this film very funny.

I am Muslim! Ya manyak! You try to oppress my people with this Israeli movie? I see...so we are the bad ones? I'm just saying, it's not so cut and dried.

I feel no pain! I keeeel the Zohan!

Actually when I watched it I was also wondering how offended some israelis might have been. I mean, the israeli hero in the movie is such a cheeky bastard that he will fack your mom and piss on your cat after you give him a bed.

I don't know if this part was an intentional depiction of israelis, but quite a few people I've met from traveling in south america certainly thought the israeli backpackers were offensively bold, disrespectful and would just make themselves at home anywhere, without asking. I agree to some extent, but I'm more inclined to think of that as a cultural shock and have met many nice israelis.

I'm a Muslim and I don't think this movie is offensive..

But then again I'm a SouthEastern Asian, I'm not an Arab...

I like the non-conflict area (mostly) of Southeastern Asia :)
Though that is only my heritage because I'm an American citizen.

I live in the Middle East in a Muslim country as an expat and I had never heard of this movie or had any inkling about it over here until a friend of mine downloaded it for me. We actually get to see everything that comes out as its pretty liberal here in the UAE (they showed Green Zone, Hurtlocker, Syriana, The Kingdom and all the sexy-com etc) but I suspect that it may have been banned. No sign of it at the Virgin shops or any other movie / video outlet.
I thought it was hilarious !!!

Me too muslim :) Why would anyone (non-radical European muslim as myself) would be offended by totally harmless and bad movie.. I was only disappointed with it generally as I was expecting funnier movie by Adam Sandler... Total waste of time... Speaking of this israeli-palestinian relationship in the movie I would say that the director did good actually, as he made fun about both sides and even in the end tried to show the world that both of them can work together, I think this was the message and in my opinion it was the only positive thing about the movie!! cheers :) ps. Marry Christmas to Catholics! cheers

Almost the entire movie was a joke on purpose, so keep that in mind before rating it.
The main themes of the movie that weren't jokes are tolerance, follow your dreams as much as you can, and love is a powerful thing to strive for in life.
