When did it become trendy to hate this movie?

Maybe I am missing something but is it residual hatred for M. Night Shyamalan following Lady in the Water? Or is it simply because it doesn't have a Marvel logo in front of it?
Whatever the case may be, it's a damn shame, became even after all these years later, this film holds up extremely well, and is easily better than many films out there now. Very underrated film.

It's never been "trendy" to hate this movie. The Happening has been an awful, poorly written/directed film since the Friday it was released. I'm watching it right now and I'm baffled at some of these directing choices.

Direction, acting, writing...all shit.

About two hours after it was released, and people started seeing how terrible it was.

About halfway through the movie for me. I usually say Mark Wahlberg is one of those actors with few bad movies to his name. Then I remember this one...
