Many of these places exist?

I'm assuming that many of the wide shots and some backgrounds have been filled-out with CGI matte paintings and other digital enhancements... but also that a significant amount of places where the series was filmed are historical-preserved sites in Europe that actually exist?

(I'm also assuming many things were shot in studios or when budget allowed at 'dressed up' locations, etc).

Do you know of any documentary... or articles online where they visit GoT's filming locations as they really are?

Thanks in advance.

Some of the most spectacular north-of-the-wall scenes were filmed in wintertime Iceland, and they weren't computer-enhanced. But most of the show was shot in Ireland, and the Essos scenes in Malta.

But I think most of the spectacular locations were enhanced in some way, and I'm sure there are websites out there offering details. But I'm not doing your research for you.

I don't know much about it, but I do know much of King's Landing was filmed in Croatia. Here are some examples: https://www.kingslandingdubrovnik.com/

Weird that this posted 3 months ago. It was about 3 months ago that my and the missus went on a Game Of Thrones tour in Northern Ireland. We visited loads of the filming locations and then spent a full day in the G.o.T. experiance centre which is the site of the studio where the interior shots were all filmed. Highly recommended!
