A magical door opened that led him to a world where he found his teacher(s), and the audience could participate in his journey of growth and understanding. The same thing happened for me. What percentage of martial art movie audiences do you think actually train at budshido, let alone at bushijitsu? Not a big percentage. What percentage dream about what that journey would be like? The percentage that was the target audience for this movie.
The white guy was not the lead. Get over your righteous selves. The white guy was a supporting actor. He’s not even in the movie poster! Sheesh!
