Could they not have cast a handsome Charles Grey?

We're supposed to believe that the most famous woman of that time hooked up with a Charles Grey that is two inches taller than her, not particularly attractive, and has a high voice. Give us a good romantic lead, people.

There is nothing wrong with Dominic Cooper as Charles Grey. I was lucky to be involved in this movie and all the cast did such a superb job.

I am in my late 40's and my niece is almost 16, and yet we both are great fans of Dominic Cooper.

We first watched him in a BBC mini-series of Jane Austen's Sense & Sensibility. He played John Willoughby, the anti-hero of the film. Willoughby is the embodiment of an engaging, utterly charming and extremely handsome man. And Cooper plays him well.

Next we watched him as Sky in Mama Mia. Not only do we get to hear him sing (which he does pretty well)but we get to see him shirtless several times. He is drool worthy sexy.

Then he is Charles Grey in The Duchess. Not only do I feel the attraction and chemistry between him and Keira but you can feel the sad longing they feel when they met for the first time after their daughter is born, knowing they can never be together again.

Next we watch him in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter as Henry Sturges. A heroic vampire that teaches the future president on how to kill the bad vampires that excessively pray on southern slaves. Dominic plays his part to a Tee. He is alluring, mysterious but with a low key violence that lurks just below the surface. He is also fierce and loyal.

Needless to say that we two are great fans of Dominic Cooper. And we look forward to seeing him on the screen again soon, hopefully shirtless. :)

Dominic Cooper is completely unattractive, can't deny that, lol.

This thread is old as dirt, but I just saw this movie.

I think if Ralph Fiennes wasn't so incredibly sexy that Dominic might have looked better. It's just hard to compete there. Even when Ralph plays horrible characters he's still sexy.

It's not the first time he's been cast this way, so obviously some people like him. I think he's okay - not bad, not great. But then neither has Fiennes done anything for me in the decades I've watched him on the screen, and these days when I see him all I think of is 'flight attendant sex drama'.

Actually, I found him extremely handsome. He's not Hollywood Handsome, which I find borders on being handsome in a more feminine manner, but rather Everyday Guy handsome, which is more realistic, a LOT more masculine, and better-looking overall.
