Could they not have cast a handsome Charles Grey?

We're supposed to believe that the most famous woman of that time hooked up with a Charles Grey that is two inches taller than her, not particularly attractive, and has a high voice. Give us a good romantic lead, people.

Sounds to me like most people who found him attractive saw Mama Mia first! Unfortunately, I haven't seen Mama Mia! Wish I had, because he was so unattractive to me.

I get the idea of unconventional attractiveness - someone mentioned Hugh Laurie. Great example - something very sexy about him in an untraditional way. It would have helped me feel her passion for him much more! I wasn't feeling it.

Fiennes is supah sexy, isn't he? The idea of him naked makes me reel, but then that inguinal crease! *faints*

So that's what it's called! I've been wracking my brain for the name of it. Yes, ZOMG, I nearly passed out when I saw that...and the lovely vertical line of hair that extended down his tummy to his "goodies."

That kid simply didn't have a hope in hell to stand up to Ralph's sexiness.

Before me, you rightly tremble.

I didn't so much mind Dominic Cooper's mediocre looks, but they should have found an actor that Keira Knightley had a little chemistry with. The lovers had absolutely no fire for me.

^ got it right!!
I cant she why she would be attracted to him... even if she wasn't that into his looks... he's meant to be this dashing lover but he looked like a awkward teenage boy... and when he goes to see he and his held back the attempt just looks sooo weak!

SLAUGHTER!

I thought that Ralph was hotter and got the more interesting character. Even though the Duke was a jerk, I was definitely rooting for him (which was a little weird).

I liked Charles Gray the way he was. He was very attractive to me.

i wholly agree, ralph fieness is a very handsome man, very sexy, though he was very heavy in this role, and dominic with the exception of one shot of his fairly ripped torso was rather ordinary and his face isn't handsome in the least...

"Ah, to get screwed by Ralph Fieness, I'd take him even if he didn't love me"

Dominic Cooper is attractive and I didn't mind him in this role, but I agree with the above poster: ZERO CHEMISTRY. Ironically, Knightley had more chemistry with her overbearing, brute of a husband than her lover who was supposed to be coaxing all this passion out of her. So I didn't really feel all that sad when she had to leave him for her children. Aside from the fact that they had a history together there was really nothing to convince me of this great love. But I did shed tears when she had to give up their baby.

The guy was an alright actor but not suited to play this part. I think this is one of the rare instances in film where the actor playing the role is less attractive than the person he is depicting. His appearance, especially when put in sex scenes with kiera knightly, was very distracting. My girlfriend kept saying..."Eww..No way.." everytime they were on screen together. I was going to make a post about this but was pleased to find that I am not the only one who was bothered by this.

There was nothing wrong with this guy. What the hell do you want?

reply

Well his face wasn't all that attractive, I mean he wasn't ugly by any means I thought he had a baby face, I'll give you all that. But did you all notice he had a smokin' hot bod. The scene where he was in bed with the Duchess and they were talking. I thought his bod was very nice

LMFAO. I agree completely.

Don't assume that because you're that shallow, she was too.

reply

thats just the thing...the duchess was shallow as hell...she had a poltical marriage so she could become a duchess. IF she was grounded and down to earth she could have married Grey in this 1st place...

reply

She probably wasn't very down to earth because too young when she married the Duke, but it seems she then got involved in politics...it would make sense for her to be attracted to a fellow politician, or at any rate a clever man, handsome or not.
