Great movie! But... imagine having to be Hawkeye losing to a girl. LOL!!

Can't get enough of this movie.
But the fight scene between Hawkeye and the girl Avenger character.... WOW
You KNOW that had to suck for Renner when reading the script I could easily imagine the look on his face when he read "Hey, I have to lose to some girl in a fight?!?!?!?"....

Poor guy!
Cool character at first. But sorry dude, you lose to a girl in a fight??? Hard to take anything you say too serious after that.

I liked all of the characters. They were all well done:
Hulk
Ironman
Cap America
Thor
Girl avenger character.
Hawkeye (at least prior to losing to the girl avenger).

You obviously don't know the powers and strengths of the characters. BW is a much more skilled hand-to-hand fighter than Hawkeye is.

Of course, your constant referring to her as "girl Avenger character" shows you have issues with women in general. I'm guessing you can't get a date other than on Skype?

What?! I wasn't bashing the her.
I didn't know her name was BW. She just wasn't that memorable of a character.

But seriously though. Some girl is just not going to be able to put a beating on a dude like that. But, maybe if she was a greater fighter is says a lot about him.... because he did kind of take her through the paces a bit. I mean, a skilled man in hand to hand would have probably marched through Hawkeye.... but BW was kind of life and death there for a bit.

Still though. I'm not talking about the movie character. I mean the actor. I'm not trying to be rude, but just imagine when he reads the script? "Wait, so I'm supposed to go toe to toe with some girl avenger?? and lose?!?!?!" LOL!

You know the other actors were ribbing on him for that.

I'm not saying the ACTUAL gal playing the role. I'm talking about BW! The character.
There's a big difference.

I am certain the gal that plays BW is a great gal.

She is undoubtedably cute.

Clearly the director didn't care too much if he's going to give a girl character a name that is ONLY INITIALS.

I admittedly didn't know her name was BW. The other poster told me her name when I was calling her the girl avenger. I just couldn't remember her name. My only point is that if the director is going to name her BW then he has to understand that's not too memorable of a name to begin with.
A name of two initals is not common

Her name is not BW... BW is just what fans tend to use on the internet instead of typing out her code name fully all the time. Her code name is Black Widow. Her real name is Natasha Romanoff.

Also, she's not just some girl. The character is someone who was raised from childhood in Russia's Red Room assassin program to be one of Russia's most deadly assassins. Losing a fight to her is nothing that a friend of hers (who knows what exactly she is) would be ashamed about because she's not an average girl.

Oh come on. Sure, maybe she's more than an average girl. But, like a girl who takes up cross fit or something.... she's still not kicking a dude's ass. It would have been more believable if they were fighting and he was getting the edge in it and then maybe they turned it into some romantic fling between the two. Now that stuff happens ALL the time and it would have been more believable.

"Russia's Red Room assassin program"?? That's just made up. I don't recall anything in the movie taking about some red room program.

Not made up in the least. The Red Room program is character background that comes straight from the comics (http://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Red_Room) and Natasha herself mentions it in the next Avengers movie (Avengers: Age of Ultron. Plus how the Red Room was run back in the late 1930's was also shown in Agent Carter season 1 episode 5 "The Iron Ceiling"). So that she's a product of the Red Room assassin training is in fact film canon.

And again... this is not some girl who decided to take up cross fit beating a guy. She. Was. Trained. To. Be. A. Frickin'. ASSASSIN!!! one of Russia's elites. Perfectly believable that a highly trained assassin - regardless of gender - would be able to kick someone's ass.

Because that type of stuff happens all the time is the exact reason why I'm glad they DIDN'T do it.

I had read on one Marvel site that Hawkeye's fighting skills were ranked higher than Black Widow (and Wolverine, for that matter). They might be basing this on older comics, though. Regardless, one factor that the OP failed to take into account is that Hawkeye is exhausted by the time of the fight. Even factoring the two of them at the same skill level, Black Widow had the edge. I would even say that the only reason she didn't win the fight sooner was that she was working to stop him and not seriously injure him.

I was also so glad that they stayed away from Black Widow and Hawkeye as a romantic couple, in general. Having a romantic twist in the context of the fight would have been beyond idiotic. He was mind-controlled at the time.

This thread is helping me deal with IMDB boards going away. Hard to believe that in 2017 there are still people who think "losing to a girl" is a problem.

You're an idiot. SJ is 5' 3", 125 lbs. with girl muscles, i.e., no muscles beyond what naturally grow on women, which isn't much. Skill doesn't trump the laws of physics. She simply doesn't have the muscle mass to hit hard. Renner outweighs her by about 50 lbs. (and he's muscular, not fat), and has 7 inches in height on her. On top of that, his character is obviously a very skilled fighter, as demonstrated countless times in this movie. You can take the most skilled female fighter on Earth and she wouldn't stand a chance against a male ham and egger club fighter. You dipshits who have bought into this Hollywood Tough Chick™ foolishness need to stop eating so much soy.

A petite girl can´t beat a big man in a fight unless she scratches and scratching is unfair.
