Real Penetration?

I just saw the NC-17 version (on DVD) and was just wondering if there was some actual "penetration" between actors Tony Leung and Wei Tang during the shooting of those steamy scenes? I have to reverse and pause the disc on those scenes; but I'm still not quiet sure. Or are those all Cinematics?

it's real. at least, the majority of it is real. they were method acting.
heaps of art-house films have actual sex, rather than simulation, these days.

Please take a look at this link:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mainstream_films_with_unsimulated_sex

It is probably not a fully comprehensive list. Is it definitely not a definitive list. And wikipedia isn't the most accurate source ever. But "The Brown Bunny" is indeed listed as having real sex, and "Lust, Caution" is nowhere to be seen.

I haven't watched "The Brown Bunny", so I can't say whether it looked real or not, however, it is widely agreed upon that the fellatio scene is real. I watched "Lust, Caution", and I agree with previous posters: it's really darn close, but those genitalia aren't penetrating each other! Normally if movies have real sexual activity, they will leave the viewer in no doubt of it--what the heck of a reason is there for real sexual activity if the scene can look the exact same with simulated sex? "Shortbus" had real sex: it didn't exactly linger on the penetration and ejaculation, but it was clearly obvious that it was real. "Ai no corrida" DID linger on the penetration and oral sex, and that was obviously real as well. The scene in "Pink Flamingos" where Divine sucks on her son's penis--that's definitely real, though the penis looked a bit flaccid to me.

I think people want to believe "Lust, Caution" has real sex because it is NC-17. Let me tell you: NC-17 DOES NOT EQUAL PORN!! That's the kind of mentality that has kept it from becoming a commercially viable rating! NC-17 is merely one level above R... it is, of itself, no more and no less. It is conceivable that there could be unsimulated sex in a PG-13 film, though of course they wouldn't show details. And it is also conceivable that MOST NC-17 do not have real sex in them. "Crash" (Cronenberg's film) doesn't. "The Cook, the Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover" doesn't. "Bad Lieutenant" doesn't. And "Lust, Caution", while filmed effectively and convincingly, clearly doesn't.

It's "K-15" over here.

There's a part where you can clearly see Tony Leung's dick enter Wei Tang. Why would they bother showing that much and then fake it? No point to it.
