Jaw scene

I think the Jaw ripping scene was pretty wicked. What are some of the most brutal death scenes you've seen in films?

They look like a couple of dorks
They're your clothes motherf-cker

Yeah that scene was pretty cringe worthy. Usually when there's an extremely violent scene and it is riddled with CGI it just looks corny, but they pulled that one off pretty well. Other notable scenes are the curb stomp in American History X, the blood bath in Hostel : Part II...

I remember the city invasion scene in Land of the Dead to have some pretty disturbing and painful looking deaths, at least in concept, presentation (as in quality of visual effects), I don't quite remember, maybe it lost points in actual presentation though.

I agree with someone above who said that this scene was pretty brutal because the character was likable, had no way to save herself, and you could almost feel it happening... I watched the scene 5 years ago when the film came out...haven't been able to sit through it since...it is that brutal to me...As far as other brutal scenes, I think the only other brutal death scene that comes to mind when I think about it would be the already mentioned curb stomp scene from American History X...it was brutal it was mindless it was pointless and it made me cry...

Just watched this movie tonight. It's a tough scene to get through...but then again...I saw the "broken wood through eye ball scene" in Zombie when I was 6 years old. I'm pretty much scarred regardless.

Does anyone else think that would hurt?

The jaw scene was simply awesome. Whoever did the effects deserves a round of applause.

I'm a huge horror nut, but I remember they kept SHOWING the jaw scene in all the internet banner ads for this film before it came out and it bothered me so much to see that woman flailing in the bloody tub that I still, to this day, never watched it.

I love horror, but some scenes are just too much for me. I still cringe when I think of that scene in Land of the Dead where they show the silhouette of the arm being torn in half from between the fingers down the forearm. Or that poor girl with giant hook up that hooha in The Mutilator?! That freaked me out.

Then again, I successfully navigated my young adult life without ever ending up at a gathering where something like Faces of Death was playing. I can't stand that real *beep* My buddy once did the whole "you gotta see this" without tellin me he was popping in a tape (VHS!) of some politician blowing off his head during a press conference. That pissed me off.

I can even watch. I turned away. Same with the movie Case 39 with Renee Zelwegger. When the guys jaw dislocates. Can't watch that either.
