The scene where Eckhart's character removes his bloodied fingers from Jasira's trousers - oh my God. My mouth literally fell open with shock and, being a woman, I had to actually cross my legs. Then I had to pause the movie and walk around for a couple of minutes. I'm not even joking.
seriously, the thought of a full grown man doing that to a 13 year old - blows my mind.
I want to be clear I am NOT saying you are wrong in feeling how you felt or doing what you did fieldsofbarley I'm just saying this probably isn't the worst one out there. Others that are just as bad or worse content wise: Mysterious Skin, Cannibal Halocuast, Midnight Cowboy, A Clockwork Orange, Pink Flamingos, Showgirls. ACO is the only one I have seen (regretabley as in it is bad and not just the content it has) and it could possibly be the most tame of what I listed and including Towelhead. Not that I will try to watch or recomend any of the others.
shareIm my opinion this movie, unlike the blindedly starstruck user said in the first review here, has a lot of bs and pretention; a 13-year-old girl just happens to meet this many sick men AND lets them do whatever in hell they want to her? She's like a freaking doll; a normal 7-year-old would offer more protest. I can't even see her as a realistic character, and when you add the racial slurs, it seems clear the writers just wanted to cram every offensive thing that could possibly happen to a young Arab-American girl into this. Pathetic.
