Why couldn't they get someone that can act or isn't a douche bag to play his small role?

He gave the best performance of the movie behind Hurt... He's fantastic

I'm watching this now and I agree. DC acts like he's acting, no gravitas. I get that he's the foil to Mr. Brooks' professionalism but I don't "buy" him as a killer-addict.
