I wonder if auditioned for this movie? She had been cast in a couple of horror movies by that point. I can't imagine the director or producers turning her down - so her agents probably balked at the nudity.

I actually think Alexandra got naked at a good time and certainly not too late. She was 26 when she filmed her nudity. It was right after she started to get semi-famous with the Percy Jackson movies. True Detective made her a legit commodity.
I think her willingness to take her clothes off might have something to do with the quality of the project, whether the nudity was justified by character/story.
Just speculating.
Some actresses like Linnea Quigley simply don't give a shit. For others, it's about the quality of the project and/or where they're at in their career. As much as they talk about nudity being necessary to the story, I don't buy it.
Julianna was so green and this being such a huge opportunity for her (a major horror remake backed by big studios) that she was willing to not only do nudity, but get fairly explicit/exploitive as well. Some actresses are not going to do nudity no matter what. So I guess Julianna had it in her. She also most likely had a relaxed mindset towards these bro-centric movies with politically incorrect, male-gaze-y depictions of women (you have to in order to take on this kind of role). Hollywood in general had that same attitude until about the mid/late 2010s when this stuff started to become increasingly rare.
I think Julianna ended up being embarrassed about how far she went - as well as the online feedback. She also possibly believed it would do more for her career than it wound up doing. She eventually got more into feminism, but I can still see her getting (tastefully) naked again in a genuinely good project.
