Miley Cyrus was such a talented singer/songwriter (still is) that she outgrew Hannah Montana halfway through season 2. I think that's why we seldom saw Cyrus doing on-screen promotion for the show or other Disney causes as the series progressed. I also believe Cyrus made a conscious, deliberate choice to cultivate her raunchy girl image before Hannah Montana wrapped production.
I see the same thing happening with Rowan Blanchard of Girl Meets World. Not raunchy, but political. Blanchard continues to catch hell from GMW fans over her "feminist" tweets and other comments away from the show. The tone of the fans' griping tends to come off as "Rowan, that liberal 13-year-old know-nothing snob!" (Well, a stronger word than "snob" and she's 14½ now, but I think all of you'uns reading this got the point.)
Rowan is a talented actress, but as with Miley, I don't see her fitting into the mold of the subservient perfect Disney princess. And I say good for her, and good for Miley for being their authentic selves.
Yeah, I know filankey is not a word, but it's gonna catch on.
