So far the only question I haven't quite found a solution for is where the antagonist obtained a key to his wife's and her lover's motel room. Unless I keep missing something (I've seen the movie many times), we're left to assume that he knew how to make a key. Perhaps his "dick" helped with this.

Anyone have any ideas? Sometimes things like this happen in even the better movies; perhaps after editing, important scenes are lost, or even simply by mistake. I tend not to assume a mistake and try to find my answer in the movie.

I thought he had some special electronic gadget deal that would open any door. He just needed to know the room. That's how I interpreted it.

Was the fact that he had such a key mentioned? Maybe I missed it. If it wasn't it's a question left unanswered.

It wasn't mentioned. I might have to watch again but his "key" didn't look like a normal key. Looked like it had some electrical gadget attached to it when he put in in the door that could manipulate the lock or something. Maybe he just stole a room service key

That sounds plausible. Sometimes the housekeeping staff leaves the key on the cart while inside a room (I've managed hotels/motels and, unfortunately, it does happen) so he could have picked it up and entered, and maybe even returned it before the maid discovered the key missing.

He’s not going to risk hoping that some maid fortuitously abandons a card he can steal 🤦🏻‍♂️

His entire plan rests on getting in that room and swapping guns, he will have either obtained a spare keycard or used some digital master-key device.

What I want to know is how did Antony know they shared the same gun type unless he broke in the room before and checked and got himself the same gun type? Also you would think the detectives would have worked out they both had the same gun types when analysing the evidence.

I think he had been spying on them previously and knew. Then he went out and bought the same gun.

He didn’t go there to see Nunally’s gun, he went there to switch it with his. He already knew the gun type and bought the exact same one because he’s a meticulous psycho who had probably stalked them plenty before the events of the film.
