Understanding is not required, only obedience.
Bad acting makes roughly 90% of the fun factor of the film - it sort of belongs to the genre.
I'm sure that the makers are aware of this thing too. I wouldn't be surprised if they reshot some scenes that were too well acted :)
Couldn't agree more. There are plenty of parodies out there - all of them are full of "bad acting" and that is the way it is supposed to be. Poor acting here is definitely a part of the fun - while this is actually best acting they could possibly do. Some do see it as irritating but in the end it is just a matter of opinion. :)

I didn't think the acting was that bad. It is an amateur parody they could have gotten much worse. There are major releases with worse actors in them, Jennifer Lopez Penolope Cruz Keanu Reeves are terrible. The best thing about the acting in this was that they were over the top, just what was needed.
shareI loved the movie, I loved the bad acting (all part of the parody), I like listening to the finnish language (tho I don't understand much). This movie didn't suck, because it didn't take itself seriously at all. Thumbs up to you people who made it, so many years of working for free commands nothing but respect. And you're giving the movie away for free. That alone is going to make me buy the DVD.

I know at least two guys who are exactly like Pirk and many who are like Info or Dwarf so acting can't be bad. Oh, and I also know a couple of Sherrypies. It's not the acting that sucks but real people who do.

And I concure with what a number of user already mentioned: The dorky style belongs to the characters depicted, it's not owed to the inabelity of the wreck crew.
So anyone whining on the acting actually is whinning on the style. Guess that's a matter of taste.

I'd like to see a film crew in the UK or USA prepare an English dubbed version for release. It's nice hearing the actor's true voices and how they speak, but it is harder to enjoy the film when you have to read it.
Most people here in Finland and Scandinavia prefer subtitles to dubbing. It just takes a bit of practice to get used to, so perhaps you should watch more foreign films with subtitles. For me dubbing completely kills the enjoyment in any live-action film, whatever the original spoken language is.

I prefer them, though, if done properly.

What I find weird is people who want to learn Finnish. I mean I was born in Finland, I grew up in Finland, I've never lived anywere else, I have had to take Finnish lessons for 8 years, and I still can't speak Finnish. For everyone from Finland, I get 4s then 5s in the test we have in "lukio". I so want to learn it, but my head can't seem to get all the grammar and all the words and everything put together and made into a correct sentence. :( I hate it, but I guess there's a lack in the teaching of Finnish since many of my friends aren't that much better. And yes, I speak swedish (the second language in Finland).
Now, on to the thing that bothers me. Some americans are stupid. I'm not say all because I know some of you are smart. Nokia, the phone company, ISN'T from the United States!!! This one girl I know, visited the US, and of course she was asked by some teenagers (about 18 years old) what Finland is known for. She answered a lot of thing's, including Nokia, but there these teenagers disagreed. The tried (without any luck) to convince HER that Nokia actually was from the USA. What are you gonna do next? Claim that this movie was made there? America couldn't make a movie this good, no matter how hard they try. No wonder it bugs them when they have to listen to Finnish, they probably feel stupid because they probably didn't even know what Finland was. And just to kill your beliefs: - Santa Claus isn't from the North Pole, he actually "lives" right here in Finland, so come visit Santa!
And don't be jealous because you only can speak English and we can speak at least Finnish and English, (for me Swedish, English and a bit Finnish and German) we're just so much better than you (not true, just making you mad)... :)

shareSubtitles owns dubbing in almost every possible way. I know a few movies that are better dubbed than subbed, but those are all cartoons and from my childhood, so nostalgia kinda distorts it. The subtitles in Pirkinning were a bit annoying. They weren't lagging behind, just cramming too much into every section. Well, it's a fan sub, so whatever. ;) Germany is the perfect example that dubbing sucks.

Hmm.. Thats weird. It took three years from my Vietnamese friend to learn Finnish.
Are you sure you have really studied it? BTW. its all about wanting to learn it.
I have noticed that during the 11 years of "studying" Swedish language i havent really learned it, why? Because i have not been intrested at all.
