Why is this show still running!?

I actually stood through two different episodes of this crap, and I'm STILL waiting for the funny part to happen! I just don't see it! All they do is talk in the most lowest, inaudible voices I've ever heard about basically the exact same sentence over and over again, snickering the whole time! Like watching a Jimmy Fallon skit!

I just don't get it. And now they're featuring all seven episodes (the number amazing in itself, I think) tonight! If I wanted to watch someone get drunk and shoot other people, I'd just go to one of the bars down the road!

Maybe it's just me, maybe there's some underlying meaning toward the whole thing. I don't know. I mean, some people like Fallon, some like Family Guy, some actually like the two people on X-Play (don't ask me why).

What are some of your opinions on this?

reply

what I love about this show is not the humor.
it's the overt darkness of it all.

it's cruel and hate filled.
a dragon, spewing its fiery guts all over me.
it hates me and I'm attracted to it for this.
I want to rape this show violently...I love it.

See, fans can set aside their differences, not all of these threads have to end with nobody having changed anything...

This sig has something you wish you thought of first, now you can't use it cuz I used it already.

reply

It's still running because it's not over. I really want to know how it ends.

"It's still running because it's not over. I really want to know how it ends."

it ends unfunny.

And of course, with the birth of the artist came the inevitable afterbirth - the critic.

I like Family Guy and X-play (Morgan is teh hotness).

This show - it neither amuses not interests me. I don't know what is going on. I'd really like to hear the moron who made it explain it.

reply

I hate how people keep comparing it to OTHER shows. This isn't those shows. If you don't like it, fine, but don't expect a show made by completely different people to be a carbon copy of Family Guy or something.

I personally think this show (alongside Perfect Hair Forever) is one of the best. The awkwardness of every line and the sort of pseudo/mockable plot to it all. Its genius. If you wanna bitch about animation quality, go watch some gay anime, because obviously the makers of this show are happy the way they're doing it.

i think it's still running because AS ran out of money at the moment. they needed to fill a time slot, and this was obviously the cheapest way.

that's the irony of it, though... you can animate 12oz mouse and GITS on the same machines. the software is the difference, and you could do 12oz mouse in photoshop in next to no time at all. that's the gist of the cheapness jokes, i think.

i love this show because it's absurd, and that just happens to be the thing that always makes me really laugh out loud. sometimes i'm not even sure why i'm laughing...just the over the top-ness of it all.

reply

The best thing about this show is the theme song.

I've watched them all & I thought it sucked. Completely boring. If I want Cringe, I'll go watch the Jim Norton/Louis CK/Patrice O'neal HBO Specials, not a badly drawn/written/acted "show".

reply

I agree, this show sucks the big one PERIOD!

reply

Adult Swim isn't running out of money, the makers aren't running out of talent, and nobody's claiming this is a high quality show. Simply put, it's just a random, pointless, and ridiculously funny show. The makers of the show (Matt Maiellaro, Dave Willis, etc.) made the show that way deliberately. That's the humor behind it (and in front of it)(and at the sides). More info at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/12_oz._Mouse

That Wikipedia article doesn't explain anything. Give me a break; why do people have to mystify this kind of crap, and act like there's something behind it that "people just don't get"? How about spending time on a show that's actually worthwhile, or funny, or even interesting? Shows like this actually airing on TV... it's just an insult.

Different isn't always better. But hey, we'll see where this show is in 5 years, or if anyone remembers it...

reply

You can be insulted all you want, I'm just glad there is something fresh and random out there to enjoy. Yes, this show looks like something my unborn child could have drawn in his spare time, but who cares? If I really cared about the quality of animation, I would watch all top notch CGI and animation that took a year to compose each episode. This show is great, its something completely different than they have on TV right now, and that's something you don't see every day. I am so tired of crappy shows like "War at Home" or "Friends," shows that just regurgitate the same crap each time, taking a situation that might be funny if they didn't repeat it over and over, and complicate things with bad acting. That's why I don't watch live-action sitcoms, they just suck. 12 oz. mouse is a breath of fresh innovative air that is sorely needed these days.

reply

Yessssss.

they picked up another 20+ episodes of the show, dont watch them. we'll keep them for ourselves.

I think its quite simply the best piece and funniest animation since Aqua Teen

I just dont think it works for people who dont watch it all the way through chronologically

I like the title sequence but the show confuses the hell out of me.

reply

I hate this show. I'm open for all types of humor, from Bill Hicks to Foxworthy, from Kevin Smith to Seinfeld, from Robot Chicken to Perfect Hair Forever....but this is just not funny. I gave it a chance, I gave it two chances but still I'm not laughing. I'm not calling anybody who likes this show stupid, hey if it makes you laugh thats great, I just find the show to be stupid and unfunny. Not only that but the more I think about it the more it fills me with rage and anger. Its one of the few adult swim shows I don't enjoy, along with Home Movies and most of the anime that is shown (I loved Trigun and love Fullmetal but can't watch Ghost In the Shell, Champoo or that s-cry-ed whatever). In short, I hate 12 oz mouse and find it unfunny. Have a nice day.

Did you get any cigarettes? Did you get anything for me?

Well, considering he was referring to the following, "I agree, this show sucks the big one PERIOD!" I believe he was discussing it incorrectly. After all, the other user was clearly saying that this show does not just suck the "big one," but the "big one PERIOD," and I am very curious curious as to what this "big one PERIOD" it's sucking on might be.

Both Perfect Hair Forever and 12 oz. Mouse have had funny moments and they run on barely making sense, but Aqua Teen Hunger Force sort of works the same way.
The writing in ATHF is simply better for the type of show it is, however.
That's what I *beep* hate about Adult Swim; they spend too much time trying to be hip, which they simply AREN'T, and not enough time making the shows jam-packed with laughs.
Nothing against them, but it's television, nothing on T.V. is hip.
If I want something deep and thought provoking, I'll watch something deep and thought-provoking.
If 12 oz. Mouse has the same underpinnings as David Lynch, it's creators must think they have excellent taste. Well, despite the fact that Lynch has pretty much been one of the most popular directors for 20 years. That's like thinking you're super-hip for copying George Lucas.
Honestly, I'd rather watch that kind of material from Lynch, himself, thanks.
Matt and Dave should stick to stuff like Squidbillies and ATHF.

This show is pretty much useless.
Watch it all you want.

reply

There's more to television and animation than "making shows jam-packed with laughs". The show is funny when it needs to be, but the real point of the show is the mystery. I found humor in the refreshing confusion, which lingered long after the eleven minutes was up, and it made me crave the next episode.

reply

Maybe next time you should try sitting down instead of standing up for two episodes. You're probably just cranky because your legs are tired.

reply

It's a polarizing show, like Tom Goes to the Mayor. I personally love the ongoing plot developement, and the mysteries of the show are equivelent to that of "Lost". I dont care if you dont like it, but don't bash it for the sake of bashing it.
