In Barney's history with his mom, one thing I'm not clear on, though I guess it's not really important. Barney's birthday party as a kid, did no one show up because Loretta actually forgot to send the invites, or was he that unpopular?

My understanding was that he didn't have any friends, and she was trying to make him feel better by pretending the invites got lost in the post.
