Did Grandma's Boy hurt Linda Cardellini's career?

I am pretty sure that this movie is now consider a cult favorite, but before Grandma's Boy, Linda Cardellini had a shot of being nominated for Best Supporting Actress in Brokeback Mountain as Heath Ledger's jilted lover. Ever since that movie, she basically disappeared from relevanancy in the public while her "Freaks and Geeks" co-stars (with the exception of Busy Philipps) have enjoyed enmorous success (mostly working with Judd Apatow). While Linda got the short end of the stick.

I don't think anybody took her seriously as an actress after Grandma's Boy as she was just another face in the crowd. She never had real commerical success on her own (unless you count Scooby Doo), but she had critical acclaim for her performances for both movies (Brokeback Mountain) and TV ("Freaks and Geeks"). It's time for her to go Rocky Balboa and have that eye of the tiger again. She needs to step her game up to prove to the whole world that she is more than a two-hit wonder.

The animated show that she is involved, "The Goode Family", has been canceled due to low ratings so if I were Linda, I would call my agent to reunite me with Paul Feig to join the cast of "The Office". Certainly, she has the looks, the talent, and the comic timing to join the Dunder Mifflin gang. If she is sucessful than maybe she will come back to Judd Apatow and do a couple of films with him.

I hope Linda can bounce back and become the actress she once was ten years ago. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed :-)

Short answer is, no, it didn't hurt. She didn't have a huge following beforehand and still doesn't, regardless of her evident talent. It wasn't really her movie like it was Adam Sandler or Allen Covert and Nick Swardson's. It would only help her if she chooses to do another gamer/stoner/broad comedy in the next couple years because people recognize her from G.B.

You mean Grandma's Boy 2? God have mercy on us all.

As I stated earlier, she needs to find roles that would fit her or hire her close friends to help her make her star vechile. Maybe she could in another Happy Madison comedy if only Adam Sandler's in the starring role. Linda could play his love interest.

Just other thing, she should keep the brunette locks because not only does she look sexy in those, but she looks real youthful (not to mention, natural). She looked washed out as a blonde IMO.

I still would like to see her make an appearance in "The Office" though :-)

Dude, she was on ER for 5 years until it ended. She wasnt stuck off in Hollywood hell or anything.

I know she did ER for six seasons before it ended, but I just would like to see her in a good comedy since she has been doing drama for a long while.

I kept telling myself while watching that I'd never get any work done with a woman cowoker that cute in the same office as me. She's a knock-out in this one.

I like her better as a blonde.

If I were Linda, I'd get another agent.

I didn't even know it was Linda Cardellini until I saw the credits. She looked totally unrecognizable to me.

If anything the Scooby Doo movies hurt her more.

Its possible to have a successful career as an actor without being a huge movie superstar. Look at her body of work, I'd say she's done well. Maybe she's happy with what she's done. Not everyone is motivated by money and fame. There are many actors that have had great careers, but if you mention their name no one knows who they are. Go look up Clifton Collins Jr. Great actor, impressive body of work, not a big name.
I'd say she's doing fine.
