What was up with that half-dead cat thing in Josh's closet?? Why was it all messed up like that?? Was it supposed to be the ghost of a dead cat that came thru his computer/cellphone/whatever?? Seems like they sorta forgot about it after showing it in that one scene.

Gratuitous scene, unecessary, and makes Mattie look like a complete bitch cause she doesn't give one crap about the cat at all. Even before she knew Josh went and hung himself, she doesn't reach in, try to help the poor thing or anything, she just acts like she saw a dirty shoe or something. Just another poor moment in an already crap film.
As for why humans get more upset over animals being hurt than other humans; it's just like the poster a few posts above mine mentioned. Animals are innocent creatures and certain ones, such as dogs and cats, depend on humans for survival.
Sick, twisted scene that really didn't need to be there. Hell, the whole movie really didnt need to be there.
