Powerful Message

That says that no matter how much good you try to mitigate the evils that *made you* (in this case, the 'goods' done by a philanthropist businessman who first established himself by stealing from and betraying Jews who perished in the Holocaust), you can *NEVER* escape your past.

Alas, it's a message that far too many in Hollywood seem to hypocritically ignore, including supposed 'progressives' like Jimmy 'Man Show' Kimmel and Chris 'Not Another Teen Movie' Evans, or legendary one-time playboy George Clooney, or for that matter the likes of Justin 'not once, not twice, but three-times a Blackface' Trudeau. When will THEIR hypocrisy FINALLY catch up with them.

Heck, as much as I love this film, even the director isn't truly immune from the sins of his past:

Don't forget Jonathan "I Beat My Bitches" Majors.

I don't know how he identifies politically, but he wouldn't be the first 'liberal' actor in Hollywood to be found to have struck their girlfriend or wife. However, a large number of them are white (not that anyone talks about them).

Also, as an aside, Spike Lee worked with Majors on Da 5 Bloods, which kind of goes back to my OP...

It was Spike Lee TRYING to be powerful and failing, while ignoring his own hypocrisy.
