It's been a long time since I saw this movie and don't remember much. Why were the prom dates trying to kidnap their dates? Were they going to take them and rape them somewhere or something??? Or just doing it for a prank???

And why after Mary breaks free from her date doesn't she just run back into the prom? No, she finds the longest route to the boiler room. Oh, I know why. No logic is needed in horror films. Sheeeeeesh!!

They were doing a prank. They were going to take the girls, undress them and leave them in a field. It was an annual tradition.

^^^ This. They were going to leave them someplace, it's kind of a traditional modus operandi in stuff like that.
