Wonder Woman EW's most powerful superhero - that's a laugh and a half

http://www.ew.com/article/2016/10/12/wonder-woman-ew-50-superheroes

When Superman could fly right through her.

And Batman would figure out a way to take her out too, among others.

reply

Superman tried that and got killed. And Batman got his ass kicked by Diana.

She beat every Kryptonian and that was before she became God of War.

reply

Eh ? In recent canon, only time WW fought Supes, was in infinite crisis era, while he was being controlled by Maxwell Lord.

Naw, as recent as Darkseid War, she tied him up with her lasso.

One time she broke his arm just to get her point across.

And with her being the god of war she more powerful than she was before.

reply

They do not mean it in terms of strenght but more of cultural relevance and impact... but yes that is stupid, people with no tv's living at the edge of the world know who Superman is. Go to any average guy walking down the street and ask to name three Superheroes your most probable answer will be Superman Batman Spiderman (order may differ).

Most people have never heard of WW. This does not make her a bad character, there are plenty less known great ones but really... number one in cultural relevance?

reply

SJW pandering.

They know she doesn't really belong there but want to stir the pot 'cause of Clinton and trolling comic/superhero fans.

reply

I'd like to see those statistics. I have never met anyone who doesn't know the character.

Stupid P'takh!

Once I was in a very small hamlet in Russia near the lake BajkaĊ‚, no tv, no computers, they still knew who Superman was, I guarantee you that they had no idea who WW is.

reply

Lol, a very small hamlet in Russia? That's representative for the world?

Stupid P'takh!

reply

No, that is proof that even in a very secluded areas, with almost no technology people still know who Superman is while it is not exactly true for WW.

reply

Most people have never heard of WW.

You're contradicting yourself.

Stupid P'takh!

reply

Where?
I am listing a proof from personal experience that no matter where you go people know who Superman is, so it stands to reason that most people know Superman, while at the same time people outside of our high-tech bubble did not heard about WW.

reply

"No matter where you go" based entirely on visiting a tiny hamlet in Russia.

I personally have never met anyone who doesn't know the character. But as evidence, I work with people in Europe, especially France and as conversation, I often talk about the movie. People there generally know the character.

I think it is far better proof than let's say...France which shared plenty of cultural trends with USA. They have internet access, tv's and are as much a part of pop culture as any city in USA

reply

So basically any place that has internet access and TV's knows about Wonder Woman.

Next?

Stupid P'takh!

reply

And even the places that don't have it know about Superman!

reply

All based on a tiny hamlet in Russia!

Do you claim that WW is recognised in the same degree as Superman? Because his sign is one of the most recognisable symbols on the planet.

reply

Do you have any evidence of that? You really need to back up what you say.

I also remembered reading article about Superman logo being as recognizable as a cross but cannot give link right now

reply

And personally, my perception (that is that there is here) is that no, WW's symbol isn't as recognized, but her symbol has changed over the years to a greater extent than Superman's.

Furthermore, don't forget that this started with your claim that "most people don't know Wonder Woman," which absolute BS.

Compared to Superman of course! I am not saying that she is some kind of 3 league character, but compared to Superman who is almost universally known she... is not.

reply

Back up a moment.

You also initially said that Batman and Spiderman were in Superman's league, but you have no evidence of that.

Please also note my comment that WW's logo has changed over the years.

reply

Wonder Woman is 75 years old. Stop trying.

reply

And you are out of your mind. Most people don't know or care about Scott Lang.

Everyone knows Wonder Woman except children that barely know their own name.

People may not list her as their top favorite character, but they certainly know who she is.

reply

WW has always been a hopeful superhero, and an icon of strength for women. Apart from some Frank Miller douchebaggery, her stories are optimistic. Patty Jenkins is probably going to portray her in an optimistic way. In this day and age, cinema influence people a lot. Superman is the pioneer of hope, and we get to see a depressing sob instead, thanks to Snyder. So, WW might as well be the most powerful one for now. Then again, The "S" shield is the most recognized symbol in the world, along with the Cross.

Apparently in Tower of Babel all it takes is some serious hallucinogenics...

What's missing in movies is same as in society: a good sense of work ethic and living up to ideals.

reply

Life isn't about who dominates whom.

reply

Yeah, it is.

Clearly, you are a Beta.

reply

Im pretty sure Batman wont kill her because Wonderwoman probably knows someone named Thomas or Martha

reply

And now the new angst is Captain Marvel.

Oh how soon we forget the Anti-Feminist ire that was once spewed your way Diana.

reply

She's more powerful than Batman! Even with his gadgets.
