How would Icarus I be suspended over the Sun for seven years

So Icarus I wasn't in orbit around the Sun, it was falling towards the Sun, just like Icarus II, because they have the same mission.

So how then would it suddenly just stop and be suspended over the Sun for seven years. It would have to constantly run engines in the opposite direction so that it hovers over the Sun.

This breaks all orbital mechanics laws. I'm surprised no one mentioned this glaring error.

In the Bluray commentary, science adviser Prof Brian Cox explained that in order to get into orbit around the sun, you'd have to spin around Jupiter first.

So I guess some Pinbacker magic happened.

Lagrange point? Just a wild suggestion and it's been a while since I last watched this film so probably a silly one.
