Some scenes were in extremely poor taste

Having just recently viewed "Another Gay Movie" on video,' I must admit the film did succeed as a comic spoof on the heterosexual teen sex movie genre, e.g., "American Pie," "Porky's," "Fast Times at Ridgemont High," etc. Generally speaking, most of the move depicted a similar brand of crude and raunchy sexual humor that it's hetero counterparts are well-known for.

However, the director noted in the film's commentary that some viewers (gay and straight) were offended by many aspects of the film. The director defended the controversial content in the name of "pushing artistic boundaries and leaving political correctness at the door."

Well, I also took offense to some scenes and would challenge the director's lame defense for several reasons. But first, let me identify some offending scenes:

1. The scene in the gay bar where the two old men ask the Griff character his age and state that he was way passed his prime age at 17 (a clear reference to pedophilia).

2. The scene where Andy's father reveals that he's bisexual and then proceeds to pursue a man into public restroom for sex.

3. The sex scene between the Andy character and his teacher.

The reason such scenes are offensive is partly because they appeal to the harmful characterization that homosexuals are perverse and behave without any boundaries of decency. Furthermore, the message such scenes send is that everything in the pursuit of gay sexual fulfillment is fine. No action or behavior is ever wrong or inappropriate when it comes to gay sex.

Too often in the name of "pushing the artistic envelop" gay directors make the mistake of communicating that any and every behavior as acceptable. But I would argue that there is nothing even remotely funny about suggesting that gay individuals condone pedophilia, that it's ok for a gay teacher to have sex with a teenager or that it's acceptable for a married man, in the pursuit of sexual freedom, to cheat on his wife -- right in from of his own son no less.

Exploiting such behavior for mere laughs ignores the damage such images do to the larger depiction of gay individuals in society by perpetuating these vile and harmful stereotypes. It's bad enough that there is a hateful anti-gay crowd that already equates homosexually with the most base human behavior imaginable. Gay directors and writers should be the last people to validate such prejudiced and homophobic beliefs.

I would argue that the same thing happens to straight people in any other "American Pie", "Porky's"...

It's a comedy. You should not be taking it so seriously.
