Could Louis have been gay?

I read in a couple posts on here that Louis' bedroom problems were attributed to erectile disfunction and/or being too young to handle it.

I always got the impression from this movie that he was simply gay and not interested in having sex with her and forced himself to in order to have children.

I also interpreted the scene at the masked ball, where Louis has a short conversation with that man as that man hitting on him. Louis then hurried away because he felt uncomfortable.

Did anyone else think this?

Oh I thought that too. But the real Marie Antoinette was actually just ''13'' years old when she was presented to him. She was apparently really awkward looking, lanky and with bad teeth that they tried to straighten with some primitive braces. Louis in real life was not impressed or attracted to her. She didn't become glamorous and attractive looking until she got older. The movie portrays her as blossoming ''too soon''.

Who cares?

I like that Marie was the focus of this movie instead of Louis. It's not so hard to imagine young men struggling with something other than repressed homosexuality. Especially in this setting, where he had an amoral court eager to cater to his whims.
