Is the book or the movie better?

Or rather, does the film do the novel justice? Because I often find that when I read a book that is later turned into a movie, the movie isn't as good. I have seen some excellent adaptations though and having fallen in love with the book already, I just want to know if the movie is worth seeing as well. Thank you.

For me, this was a rare case where the movie was everything I expected it to be. If I had to choose, it would be extremely difficult, because they really did an excellent job on the movie.

Personally think that the book is better.

It's been several years since I read the book, so I was able to enjoy the movie without feeling as betrayed as I normally am by the movie adaptions. For me the thing I missed the most was the emphasis on what a charming and lovable boy Hassan was and how Amir loved him, but was also so jealous of him. The young actors did a fine job with what they were given, but there is only so much that can be shown on the screen.

I do think the movie is good. However, the book is a thousand times better. I have a weird habit of reading the book after the film and I've got to say my affection for the film was sort of shattered after I finished the book.

Little justice was done for the book. I feel like there was no raw emotional portrayal from any of the actors. Things felt rushed and poorly acted. The only good and memorable thing from this movie was it's music and set. The cinematography was beautiful and the music lively. Everything else was *beep* So *beep* *beep*

The movie is certainly worth seeing, but is nowhere near the book.

I have just seen the movie. I cannot say that it was bad adaptation but I deffinetly was not moved as much as I was while I was rapily reading the lines(the book). The plot was quite accurate but eventually missed out some of the detailes which I personally found important while I was reading the book. The intersections were also very fast. But again, this is what you get when you try to make a movie out of a brilliant book. If you have already seen the movie but haven't read the book, you should be most likely to find some missed details thus I stongly recomend that you read the book anyhow. If the contrary, the movie is not such a necesity.
