Why even bring race into it?

It's a movie. They're people. Who cares if they're white, black, brown, purple, or aquamarine. Why even bring it up at all? Just sit back and relax. Don't stress out over the "darkness" of the actors. If it upsets you that much, stay at home.

Just enjoy it for what it is: entertainment.

I think they should do an all black version of Gilligans Island. Dave Chapelle could be Gilligan and Charles S. Dutton as the Skipper. Damn so many hot black women to choose for Ginger and Mary-Ann. Joy Bryant as Ginger and Jada Pinkett Smith as Mary -Ann. David Alan Grier as the Professor and as The Howells hmmm Pam Grier and Redd Fox if he was living. Sounds like a great cast to me. Man that would be a hell of a remake.

I thought about that also.. would be funny, an all black version of Gilligan Island, but I thought of Puff Daddy as Gilligan but I like your idea better with David Chapelle. But as far as Ginger... I would say Gabriella Union. I was thinking Forest Whittaker as the Skipper. Terrence Howard as the Professor. and might as well shoot for the Gold here... Morgan Freeman and Whoopi Goldberg as the Howells. But I got a Mary Ann for you... how about Alicia Keys.

By the way... all this racism talk is all B.S. Same old discussion going on for years. Simply put, Idlewilde is a movie that takes place in a very seperate community time frame in 1935's Georgia. And it may have been only on one side of the town. All black clubs were the norm because blacks were not allow to mix with whites back them. So we made do with what we had. And if you really want to get all huffy, Moulin Rouge didn't have a black person in it, does it make it racist? You be the judge! But certainly if you are going to discuss why the all black cast in the movie, you might as well discuss all white cast in movies.

Bottomline is that people like to see themselves represented on the small and big screens. If you don't see anything you like, you tend to do it yourself. In fact, recently a latino show (George Lopez) got on one of the major network for the first time since Chico and the Man. So you go figure out why certain people take it upon themselves to create stories, movies, films and music base on their culture.

It can never be "just entertainment" when it's released to an analytical audience.
