Why even bring race into it?

It's a movie. They're people. Who cares if they're white, black, brown, purple, or aquamarine. Why even bring it up at all? Just sit back and relax. Don't stress out over the "darkness" of the actors. If it upsets you that much, stay at home.

Just enjoy it for what it is: entertainment.

If you don't have any idea that black and white were races, then open up a history book.

I loved that it was an all black cast. For once, black people weren't forced into a reactionary position, being defined (even if heroically) by their battles with whites. Only then can individual personalities really take over, and that is real success. I also appreciated the unexplained or apologized for large, beautiful homes that the characters lived in. I know at the time it would have been more complicated than that, but sometimes we show things like they should be, and let the kids look at that as the status quo, so they think that way. Make African American success look normal (it does happen and will happen more), DON'T discuss it in the film, and that will set a new norm.

Arguing about this only allows it exsistence. Cant any of you see that? Stop using words like "BLACK", "WHITE" when describing people. It doesnt matter.

Listen, the Civil Rights movement was a communist catalyst DESIGNED to erradicate the NATURAL process of cultural integration, which would have taken place after segregation, really people are naturally good @ heart. Both Martin Luther King & Rosa Parks were funded by communists, Parks was an agitator 15 years before being reported on. Seriously, you Americans WATCH too much and don't READ. The problem is NOT race, or people, it's the small clique that runs the world (illuminati), the same people that RUN the media.

Please listen to the album, it's a genuine complaint about hollywood IM appropriation & how most African Americans' HATE 'bling/gangsta' culture & also a great comment on relationship problems within the African American community. LISTEN to some more MUSIC people, movies are cheap trash compared :p. I'm sure the intention of most gansta rappers is benign too, it's just the ONLY way to get on TV, you just have to listen to more of that particular artists' work. Particulary in hiphop, the spiritual & knowledge giving elements' are hidden, why? Because the music industry is classically owned, with artists always being property. In this light, rappers are cleary on the forefront of counter culture within this wholey dragraded notion we call 'Pop Culture'.

Get Rich or Die Trying was a black movie... I'm pretty sure they did that one on purpose

"Get Rich or Die Trying was a black movie... I'm pretty sure they did that one on purpose"

Yeah, well 'Braveheart' and 'Schindler's List' had no black people in them!

White conspiracy?

reply

Maybe because there is protests from the black commuity each time a big Hollywood production comes out that only have a white cast?

reply

This is nuckin futs.

Whites will never fully understand the importance of Blacks seeing black role models and blacks will never understand that whites don't feel that deeply about black history because it's "not in their blood" and I mean literally. Those things are passed on just like genetic traits.

If you believed in reincarnation, would color would you want to be?

Self loathing is passed on like a genetic trait?

The amount of stupidity in this topic is astounding and I dont mean donjohnson.

are you alright? Lord of The Rings had nobody but white people, and I think pretty much everybody enjoyed all three films without even noticing. There ar emore I could name, but it is pointless, why is it so hard for people to see the futility of puulling out random exclusive examples to prove their point? Open your eyes, ther world is bigger than America and Hollywood. There is New Zealand, Africa, SOuth AMerica, Asia e.t.c why do you seem so convinced that the small cross-section of those races that exist within American society define the entirety of these named races?

i must say, this is one of the most rediculous threads i've seen in a long time. it's 2006!! i think it's pathetic that people are still making issues over race. race, race, race!! the word doesn't even exist in terms of science. "my baby has a black chromosome and a white chromosome and a chinese chromosome..." no. and just because members of certain races share similar culture does not mean that EVERY SINGLE MEMBER does. those of you who said things about blacks not liking "white movies" and vice versa, wtf? stop stereotyping everyone! everyone wants equality for their own minority group, yet so many yeild to other minorities. equality doesn't mean everyone has to act the same, or look the same, or share the same culture. but they should be treated with an equal amount of respect and should be allowed the same rights. as the starter of this thread said, it doesn't matter if you're "white, black, brown, purple, or aquamarine." we're all human. we're all the same species. so what's the big deal? i am 100% caucasion, my boyfriend is pakistani, one of my best friends is black and indian, and another is korean, and when i'm with them i don't see them as being "different colored", they are just people. my friends. it wouldn't matter to me if they were hot pink and covered in polka-dots. however, another point that has to be addressed is the opinion-bashing. we all have the right to freedom of thought and speech, and if some people who posted are actually racist, well, i'm not saying i agree with them, but i won't yell at them and tell them they have no brains. they're entitled to their opinions just as i am entitled to mine. oh and by the way, for all of you "minorities" out there, look around you... you might be minorities in the united states and canada, and maybe even in parts of western europe, but on the scale of the entire world, whites are the real minority. i would drag homosexuals into this too, but this post is already kind of long, and if i did, i would probably get verbally stoned.

reply

yeah. i'm not saying all black people are like this, but it seems to me that black people are always commenting saying that its time for a white character to be played by a black person. i think they need to think about the character and not the characters race.

Amen to that. I thought this movie was a blast. I'm not into the music at all, but the visuals and the actors were a lot of fun. The car chace, the shoot outs, and the musical numbers were beautiful.
If you're putting a lot of thought into this movie, you're taking it WAY to serious. It's a popcorn movie, and a pretty good one.

"It's poetry. The poetry of war."
