I liked him in raising arizona, but i didnt really respect him as an actor until this film.

I like a lot of movies in wich Cage is the main actor,..
But definitely this one,..IS A MASTERPIECE IN ITSELF.
Not only his acting is spotless,..but the movie, the story,
the other characters/actors,scenery and music,..are one of kind.

I totally agree! (i could not have said it better myself. but ill add 'the ending' was also part of it's greatness)... this film is a masterpiece plain and simple. even all time wise, this film ranks pretty high on my own personal list (it's a crime this is not in the Top250 as it wipes the floor with a good percentage of films that are in the Top250). this is definitely Nick Cage's best film hands down. this film also made me recognize the director by name 'Andrew Niccol' and ill be keeping a eye on his films in the future but i think it's unlikely he will top Lord of War because that film ranks pretty high on my all time list and it's not easy to make a film that good.

this is also one of those films that got better and better the more i had seen it. my initial viewing i liked it, around a 7-8/10. but after another viewing or two the film grew on me even more and i consider it a masterpiece and i don't throw out the word 'masterpiece' to often either.

p.s. another film in recent times i consider a masterpiece is 2002's 'Road to Perdition'. probably my overall favorite Tom Hanks film. i also think Jude Law's character in this is quite great, cold as ice. this film is sorta like 'Lord of War' in some ways as it's well shot/has nice music for it/solid acting/nice ending etc. it's also Paul Newman's last film to and he went out on a strong note ;) ... also i think Road to Perdition is a unique gangster film but it's not your typical gangster film as it does not focus around the gangster lifestyle like most great gangster films do. it's focuses around Tom Hanks and his kid mostly.

also... Sam Mendes masterpiece is definitely Road to Perdition and NOT the overrated American Beauty. (American Beauty's main problem that prevents it from being great is that it's just to weird which ultimately makes it a film you don't care to watch often. so even though i sorta liked it, it aint a film i would praise simply because it's one of those films you sorta like but then not really go back to reviewing it anytime soon)

I wouldn't call it one of his best, but it's a good one. His best is probably Adaptation. Because of his recent slew of really bad action movies, people tend to forget that he's actually an extremely talented actor.

I was gonna say...Face/Off had to be in there somewhere!!

Cage always gives great performances though. I think this one just stood out because the story is good.

i can only say

1 Lord of War
2 Face Off

face off?

FACE OFF??!!??

I turned that piece of crap off after 20 minutes....in my opinion the cheesiest movie he's ever done, and that includes valley girl.

Moron.

Face Off is MUCH better than Nicolas Cage's WORST movie which is... Wild at Heart which commits the worst crime a film can, which is.. it's completely boring. i could not even finish watching that movie where as all other Nicolas Cage movies i have seen i have at least finished watching.

Cage and Travolta's performances in 'Face/Off' are incredible. Both could have been nominated.

The movie just had too many 'shoot-em up, blow-em up' scenes.

Short Cut, Draw Blood
