fans of haneke are intelligent people
people who love haneke's films are often very smart, and many people who don't like them are stupid.
that's why it's so hard being intelligent, but not liking haneke's cinema.

Though, I've only seen White Ribbon & Cache, I'm a fan.. yet I'm certainly not a particularly intelligent person. I just have a good taste in film.
shareThat's a really stupid theory.
"I'll book you. I'll book you on something. I'll find something in the book to book you on."
Maybe you're right.
I could change it:
"People who love Haneke's films often think of themselves as being rather smart, and many people who don't like them are often being considered less so.
That's why it can be hard being convinced of one's own substantial level of intelligence, but not liking Haneke's cinema."
(Wikipedia:
"One of the main effects of illusory superiority in IQ is the Downing effect. This describes the tendency of people with a below average IQ to overestimate their IQ, and of people with an above average IQ to underestimate their IQ.")
LOL! Then, I guess you arent a Haneke fan cause your argument is VERY STUPID! As Stupid as Funny Games

I like this film, and I consider myself intelligent. I also consider the OP's post to be absolutely absurd and unfounded. Talk about a misinformed ego.
shareFans of Hanky are more likely snobbish buffoons.
shareHere is the thing...
I recognise this film is intelligent but I didnt find it enjoyable by any means...
There are other filmakers out there who make much more enjoyable-intelligent cinema.
For example David Lynch, Takeshi Kitano, Wong kar wai etc...
