Why was Angela broke towards the end?

I may have missed something, but she was shown to be in dire financial straits after splitting with the Senator, to the point where she had to rent a shitty apartment which she got evicted from. Wouldn't the head of accounting make a decent enough salary to afford a good place and not be struggling?

Among the many things from season 9 that just didn't make that much sense.

We know prior to getting married she had her own apartment, with many cats. And aside from the cats, she didn't seem like the kind of person who spend all their money (most accountants tend to be wiser with their spending). So after her marriage broke up, either A) they had it annulled, in which case she would leave with what she came in with. B) They had a pre-nup which would also ensure that she would leave with what she came with. C) They didn't have a pre-nup in which she could get half of what the senator had, which we're led to believe he was wealthy. And at that point no one but Angela knew that the baby wasn't his, so he would paying child support. And with Angela having a steady job and decent salary, she shouldn't have had a problem getting a decent apartment.
