will young people like this movie?

It seems to me that this movie requires a certain experience of life to enjoy it. If you are into blockbusters it may not appeal. Are there any gen y's who have found it good ? On the ABC web site there are several very anti comments and the reviewer in the herald sun was positively luke warm.
I cant understand that.

I'm 17. I liked the later half better, I thought the story was slow to pick up. But the last half hour or so was very good.

I'm 17 and enjoyed it in parts.

I didn't think much of Justine Clarke, and although I love William McInnes from previous projects, I sometimes though he was limited in his role.

Not to say that I didn't like the film or McInnes' acting, I though his scene with Meryl just before he went to his Mum's for lunch was incredibly emotional and awkward, awkward in a dramatic sense.

I thought the supporting cast was fantastic, Anthony Hayes thoroughly deserved his AFI, Andrew Gilbert was a delight to watch. Elena Carapetis was also a very solid performer. I thought the sub-plot involving the train driver and his son was underdeveloped, and entirely unnecessary. It didn't add anything to the story and was distracting from the main focus of the film.

I also felt it was very cliched, the over-use of musical montage was annoying, and to quote one of Anna's friends "overly emotional".

I thought it was a good little film, very easy to write an essay on, but by no means a classic.

My god, yes, I loved this movie. I'm 17, in Year 12. My English teacher just lent me the movie to watch in relation to my Extension 2 major work. I am an unabashed fan of Hollywood dramas and romantic comedies and probably blockbusters. I've always had doubts about Australian film and TV shows...but this was brilliant. The first 10 minutes were enthralling. It dealt with such a delicate issue yet was executed with a great story. Often, I find some films and short stories (from students) seem unable to connect a great story with deeper message. Look Both Ways does it with ease. The (many) characters felt very real and I cared very much for what happened to them.

I love it!

This is the film text that the year 12's at my school are studying for our english class.

i've heard lots of different reactions to it.
Some hated it, some loved it, some couldn't really care.

I, however, loved it.

Um, excuse me?

mincewind - While I understand why "generation x" may think that our generation is attracted to stuff blowing up and big blockbusters, please give us some credit and don't generalise. I'm 17 and I absolutely adore the movie and I know others who do. Yes, it may not be a huge box office hit, but that doesn't mean that us "generation y" kids can't appreciate good film-making.

The Herald-Sun employs Andrew Bolt. What more can you say?

I'm 17. I found the movie ok. I didn't love it but I didn't hate it. I think the premise was interesting but I felt no connection to Meryl's character and to put it plainly, she irritated me.

I don't think our generation hates this movie because it isn't a big budget blockbuster with lots of explosions. I think our generation doesn't like it so much because we're not at the point in our lives where this film will leave a big impact on us. We don't appreciate it as much as the target audience (middle aged adults). I think when I get older and have experienced life more, the messages in this film will mean something more to me than they do now.
