Plot hole (spoilers)

Silas is working for someone he only knows as The Teacher. He doesn't know who the Teacher really is so as far as he knows it could be anyone. He breaks into Teabing's home prepared to kill everyone including Teabing having no idea that Teabing is really the man he is working for. So Teabing could have been killed by the very man he sent to find the keystone, ending his own life's quest to expose the holy grail.

I wouldn't say this is a plothole, but more of a risk that Teabing took. Also, since we know Teabing is the teacher and he gets his assistant/driver/servant guy to help, I'd also have to venture a guess that that guy was on alert and would have tried to intervene if Silas was on a total rampage. Besides, Silas wasn't all about murdering people as his first option, so the likelihood he would have just shot first and asked questions later is slim.

Exactly, a calculated risk designed to deflect any unwarranted suspicions or attention away from him. Definitely no plot hole!🐭

Speaking of plotholes, how did they hide Silas when their plane landed in England? Yes, Langdon and Sophie hid in the car but what about Silas? The English did search the plane!

That may be an actual plot hole. I would have to go back to view that scene again to see if it is. As to the other so-called plot holes mentioned in this thread, they are just examples of viewers misunderstanding of what a plot hole actually: ie (from Wikipedia), "A plot hole, plothole or plot error is a gap or inconsistency in a storyline that goes against the flow of logic established by the story's plot. Such inconsistencies include such things as illogical or impossible events, and statements or events that contradict earlier events in the storyline."

To be facetious about it, there should a tutorial that all prospective members of IMDB and offshoots have to attend/understand before being granted membership.

Thank you for your time and consideration on my issue...... I did go back to verify the scene to scene and Silas WAS on teabing's private jet on their way to England, then he reappeared in the church, chasing Sophie and Langdon again.........

Okay then, an actual plot hole is was. Thanks for saving me from the tedium of going back to watch these scenes from a mostly preposterous movie again.

You're very welcome! Actually, I watched that scene on DVD yesterday and I paused it frame by frame and YES, SILAS DOES EXIT the private jet w/Sophie and Langdon into teabing's personal chauffeur car! He doesn't show much resistance and looks to be passed out in the vehicle while they hide in the rear seats, as the British police inspect the private jet...... They must've drugged him, in order to follow their scheme during that replayed scene!
