Why Does Tommy Love Janet?

Seriously, how could Tommy STAND that witch he married? Okay, she's pretty. And in the first years of their marriage she was probably actually nice to him.

He gave her what she wanted, i.e., a chance to stay home and raise her kids without having to work. Aside from fighting fires, he took on other jobs. But in the first few seasons all she did was whine and moan, "You were never home!" Well duh, how could he be while working two jobs?

Then she came down on him for his depression over 9/11. Hardly Tommy's fault. Real supportive wife there Janet! Your husband goes through one of the worst traumas of his life and all you can do is complain.

They lose their one nice child, Connor, in an accident and she blames Tommy. So you were such a "great mom", make sure your kid wears his helmet when he rides his bike. DUH! And then unbelievably she is given a great gift of another child, but she aborts it because it would be too "inconvenient" at that time. Women like her should raise goldfish. They don't deserve children, especially considering the way her two daughters turned out.

In the last few seasons she gets all over Tommy for his affairs Well, hey lady, you were dating Roger and considering taking Tommy's kids across country when your boyfriend relocated. in fact she did run off with them. She dated a guy from work when she got a job. Later she had an affair with Tommy's brother. Then she dated the other guy played by Michael J. Fox.

Janet is a hypocritical heartless b#tch who raised two nasty, selfish daughters in her own image, Colleen especially, what a disrespectful, obnoxious, self centered drunk! I can't believe Sean would want to marry her! He could do so much better.
Both daughters are so rude to their dad, unless he's giving them money! I would never dream of speaking to my father that way.

Anyway, Janet is a loathsome, mean and selfish woman. What in the world does Tommy see in her?

This is how it plays out for a lot of people in real life.

I think you answered a lot of the questions already Tommy was mentally broken and had lost so much already also people tend to always stick with what they know or go back to it.

The thing is Tommy was no saint either.
