Reaver numbers and the devastation they cause

In the movie we learn that there are 30 million inhabitants on the planet the Reavers came from. We also learn that 0.1% became Reavers... In other words ~30,000 Reavers.

I don't understand why they aren't dealt with. There are several inhabited planets in their universe. 30k enemies should be a cinch to clean up.

I guess my point is that it would've made more sense if it was 1%< or the planet had 300+ million inhabitants.

Same reason there are still slavers and tyrants in the outer worlds. The Alliance doesn't have the resources to deal with the entire system. It's a democratic government so they managed to get enough support from the population for the Unification war, but no one wants to pay for fixing someone else's problems.

The inner planets wanted it covered up though.

Wiping them out immediately and making up an excuse would make more sense.

A chain reaction in an experimental energy source for an example.

... but it's not real life so I don't blame them for just doing the plot that made a good story over the one that made the most sense in the real world.

"The inner planets wanted it covered up though."

good point , having the monsters you created roaming the galaxy is not too low key
