This film isn’t as great as the 1978 original but it’s better than most of the sequels and pretty much every horror remake of the 2000s (Fog, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Prom Night, Amityville Horror, Black Christmas, etc.).

I'd have The Ring (2002), The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003), Dawn of the Dead (2004), The Hills Have Eyes (2006) and Friday the 13th (2009) over it.
Movies like House of Wax (2005), The Last House on the Left (2009) and My Bloody Valentine (2009) are on a similar level, maybe a smidge below.
That's just for 2000-2009. When you open it up to include the 2010s then Evil Dead (2013) and Piranha (2010) are two more I prefer.
