First half was great, second half not so much.

Everything is almost flawless until Michael Myers escapes the mental ayslum. Once he escapes and goes on a killing spree, it just seems like a rip off of the originals. The first half was pretty tense and shocking, the second is more slasher. I still liked it, but an entire movies like the first half would have been very interesting.

You have to please the fans and I'm sure it was more the studio's idea to add the homages and the ties in the second half to the original. Amityville did it successfully, Halloween tried to.

I wouldn't say the first half is flawless but do agree it's better than the second half - because, yeah, it's original.

I just watched it as part of a revue of the full series and I mostly agree. I didn't find the first half flawless, but it was quite gripping. Then the second half rolled along with its realistic-yet-annoying teen banter and typical slasher shenanigans. Too bad.

That's how I felt about this movie. I preferred the first half way more. The second half came everything felt so rushed. I didn't care about the characters, so it just wasn't as effective as it should've been. Plus, Scout's screaming became very annoying.

I dislike both halves. Separately, but equally.

Actually, I liked the 'second half' very much, until he grabbed Laurie.

Once he did that, it turned from a good, thriller movie with a nice plot into a typical slasher end (that took 30 minutes). He kept in all the standard girl shrieks, running from a killer but sorta hurt, escape from certain death several times with last second chance events, and finally turns the table (kinda).

I didn't mind the killing of the kids having sex - that was part of the original. Loved the extra time spent on how he grew up, making the masks, the escape, etc. Just wish they would have let the end flow more gradually, like the original, and not so much slasher-ish.

I enjoyed the first half better than the second.

Agreed. First half, despite the white trash aspect, is much better. Second half is too rushed and with Michael not having a car and thus not actually following the girls, but rather magically appearing at the right place at the right time, makes it a hackjob without rhyme or reason.

I enjoyed his family aspects up until he escapes. It feels like the studio wanted a prequel yet changed it at the last minute.

I enjoyed this movie, but did feel the first half was better. The second half felt more like a copy of the original movie.

I did like the guy who played Loomis though.
