One of my very favorite Marvel movies

I remember seeing it in the theater back in ‘08, thinking “oh jeez, here’s another comic book movie, hopefully it’s not crap” and I was blown away. I had no idea it was an “MCU” movie, it was just a really awesome stand alone flick in my head.

And the final line “I am Iron Man” was such a delightfully funny line to end the movie on. I have a love/hate relationship with the MCU, but this first Iron Man is on my top tier of MCU movies. (Thor 1&3 and the two Ant-man movies are my other favorites)

It was great. They threw out all of the comic book movie stuff and made a real movie about a comic book character.

I despise this movie with a passion. They got lucky with casting RDJ who has the charisma to carry the movie, because otherwise there’s no interesting storytelling going on here. John Favreau is perhaps the dullest, most mediocre director in Hollywood. Just what feels like a setup for the rest of Kevin Feige’s boring MCU series. I saw it in theaters and thought it was overrated then, and still do today.
